About the seminar
Matt should have been out exploring mountains and living as a hermit, but somehow, he ended up trapped in a tour bus with other roadies. Thirty years as a monitor engineer for artists like Madonna, Roger Waters, and Michael Bublé have given him a rather eclectic approach to mixing monitor sound. He started in a small venue in Oxford and worked his way up to stadium tours, which has led him to mix on everything from broken mixing consoles in the Egyptian desert to the latest digital desks in public squares with audiences of 200,000. Beginning with analog technology, he has embraced new innovations as they have emerged, witnessing firsthand how digital technology has transformed the live sound industry. Matt runs his own audio consultancy, Sonic Events Ltd, and hopes to get off the road one day—but not just yet! Matt shares his approach to monitor mixing, the challenges he has faced, and the choices he has made along the way, with the occasional anecdote from a long career on the road.
